Selection Success! Four Aspley Guise Scouts are chosen for World Scout Jamboree

Date: 4th Feb 2026 Author: Peter Jones

Aspley Guise Scouts are delighted to announce that four young people from the group have been chosen to represent Bedfordshire at the World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027.

The World Scout Jamboree is a global gathering of Scouts and Guides that brings young people and volunteers together to make international friends, explore new cultures, and enjoy an inspiring programme of activities.

Ryan, Eleanor, Sam, and Rory are among 36 scouts who have been selected from the county to go to the once-in-a-lifetime event.

The process initially involved submitting a written, audio or video application. Group leaders then whittled the applicants down to 100 who then attended a weekend selection event in Bromham. The young people took part in a wide range of team-building activities in which they demonstrated their commitment, enthusiasm and curiosity in different tasks. The final 36 were then chosen to travel to Poland between 30th July and 8th August 2027.

Over the coming months the young people have a huge task on their hands – to each raise £3,500 to pay for their trip, as well as to support less fortunate scouts to attend from around the world. They’ll be creating crafts to sell at local fayres and markets; packing bags at supermarkets; running events for other children within the scouting group; and will also be hoping for some financial support from local businesses.

Ryan
Ryan — World Scout Jamboree, Poland 2027
At only 12, Ryan is one of the youngest scouts to have been selected to represent Bedfordshire. He loves the outdoors; running and cycling; learning new skills; and he’s always willing to get stuck in and give everything a go. He’s looking forward to the fundraising challenges that lie ahead and gaining a huge amount of work experience along the way. He’s hoping that the World Scout Jamboree will be an amazing opportunity to make new friends both at home and overseas as well as strengthen the visibility of the scouts in the local community.
Eleanor
Eleanor — World Scout Jamboree, Poland 2027
Eleanor has been part of Aspley Guise Scouts since joining Beavers 7 years ago and will soon be moving up to the Explorers unit. She enjoys sporting activities including playing netball for her school team as well as swimming and golf. She is currently volunteering as a young leader at the Cubs weekly sessions as part of her Duke of Edinburgh bronze award. At the Jamboree Eleanor would like to meet Scouts from across the world and learn about different cultures whilst having fun and making new friendships – memories that will last a lifetime.
Sam
Sam — World Scout Jamboree, Poland 2027
Sam is an explorer scout, who journeyed through beavers, cubs and scouts, along the way collecting the bronze, silver and gold chief scout awards. When he’s not with scouts he spends his time singing, dancing, and playing board games, D&D and table tennis. He loves being creative and working with his friends to achieve something together. He’s looking forward to meeting new people, discovering new places and making memories for life.
Rory
Rory — World Scout Jamboree, Poland 2027
Rory is an Explorer in the Aspley Guise unit, having come through Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. He loves his scouting adventures and combines them with Air Cadets where he was recently promoted to be the youngest Sergeant in the Bletchley Squadron. Having completed the bronze and silver DofE, Rory thrives off challenges and looks forward to using his leadership, teamwork and communication skills to connect with fellow members of the scouting movement at the World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027. He is proud to represent Bedfordshire and the UK and he hopes to inspire others to take part in scouting.
